How CALP teaches: follow the book, listen first
CALP’s material is built on a few clear teaching principles. Knowing them helps you use the videos well with your students or your child.
We follow the book strictly
We follow the books published by the boards, and we don’t add lines just to make a video longer. Books like NCERT’s are enough to make a student proficient in academic English, and they hold enough material to keep a child busy for a whole year.
It is better to use the resources you have well than to collect more and never use them.
Every chapter in several kinds of video
Listen
For the primary classes, each story or poem is shown on colourful slides with a voice-over. Each slide has a short piece of the book’s text with pictures that support it. For Class 1 and 2 the voice is slow.
How to use it: show it to the whole class, or to one child at home. Listen is always the first video for a chapter.
Repeat after me, and sing and dance
Once children know a chapter from listening, move to the version where they say the lines back, or sing the poem with actions.
