What children do

Listen, repeat, speak

ListenEach chapter is read slowly over bright pictures, so children hear how English should sound.
RepeatPlay the same video three or four times. Words that were new start to feel familiar.
Speak and singRepeat-after-me and sing-and-dance videos get children saying the words out loud.
Follows the bookWe stick to the NCERT textbook, line by line. Nothing extra to confuse your child.
Why CALP

When home and school speak different languages

Most children in India speak one language at home and study in English at school. When they don’t understand the language, they memorise the lessons instead. That works in the early classes, and then the subjects get harder.

CALP stands for Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency: the English a child needs to understand school, not just to chat. We build it one chapter at a time.

A few minutes a day

Language grows with daily practice, not with cramming.

Fifteen minutes a day is enough to start. Increase it to half an hour as your child grows. Keep the same order every day, so your child knows what comes next.

Questions

Parents often ask

Which books do you follow?

The NCERT English textbooks for Class 1 to 5. Our best-known videos follow the earlier books, Marigold and Raindrops. We are now adding the new NCERT books (Mridang for Class 1 and 2, Santoor for Class 3 to 5), starting with Class 5.

My own English is weak. Can I still help my child?

Yes. You don’t need to teach. Sit with your child, play the video, and repeat the lines together. Your time and attention matter more than your English.

How much time should my child spend?

Start with 15 minutes a day and grow to half an hour. A short time every day works better than a long time once a week.

Can teachers use CALP in class?

Yes. Play a video on the projector or smart board three or four times, then move to the repeat-after-me version of the same chapter. The voice is slow on purpose, so the whole class can follow.

Do the videos cost anything?

No. All the videos on our YouTube channel are free to watch.
